On behalf of the Apex Freestyle Ski Club and the Organizing Committee for the 2015 FIS FREESTYLE NORAM CUP, it is our pleasure to invite you to attend the FIS Freestyle NorAm Cup Mogul and Dual Mogul events at  Apex Mountain Resort in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada on the 22th  through 25th of January, 2015.

Following are the event details and registration information.  Athletes must REGISTER ONLINE by January 5th, 2015.

ENTRY & REGISTRATION INFORMATION

  • All athletes must REGISTER ONLINE before January 5th, 2015 6:00pm Pacific Standard Time with the Apex Freestyle Club
  • Athletes must have current FIS registration and provide verification
  • Registration fees are to be paid online via PayPal, cash or cheque
  • Please note that there may be office handling fees applied to event registrations.
  • If choosing to pay by cheque, please bring it with you when you finalize your registration at Apex Mountain.
  • Bib deposit fees MUST BE PAID WITH CASH - Bring cash with you as the onsite ATM can be unreliable.  Please note, there is only one cash machine at the resort.
  • Coaches and/or Team Leaders must provide a TEAM LIST to include all attending coaches, technical support and athletes to the organizing committee at [email protected] by Monday, January 5th, 2015 at 6:00 pm Pacific Standard Time
  • Waivers must be signed at the office. 
  • If under the age of 19 a parent or guardian must sign for the individual.

REGISTRATION COST

  • Registration Fee:  $245.00 CAN ($150 for first event  - $95 additional for second event)

BIB DEPOSIT

  • $20 per athlete CASH ONLY - Bring cash with you, the ATM can be unreliable.
  • Athletes must wear bib during training and competition.  Athletes not wearing appropriate bib may be disqualified. 
  • Bibs must be returned to race office, in good condition, after the event to receive deposit back.

COMPETITION OFFICE

The competition office will be located in the Brown Bag lunchroom on the lower level of the Gunbarrel building.

LIFT TICKETS AT APEX MOUNTAIN RESORT

Apex Mountain Resort offers reduced ticket prices to athletes.  To purchase tickets:

  • Athletes must purchase tickets at resort ticket booth
  • Athletes must show/wear their bib 
  • MC/Visa accepted 
  • Ticket office opens at 8am daily 
  • Registered athletes will receive a 25% discount for lift pass or the respective reciprocal season pass discounts to their home mountain (need to show your home mountain season pass)
  • Complimentary lift tickets for coaching staff, judges, media, officials and volunteers are available at the Race Office each day

BASIC EVENT PROGRAM

  • Athletes will compete in two NorAm events on Kristi’s Run located within walking distance of the Apex village
  • Athletes will access the venue from the t-bar
  • Athletes must ride t-bar to the top
  • Athletes who unload early risk disqualification
  • Spectators and media are encouraged to watch these young athletes on their way to become Olympians
  • Medal ceremonies will take place at the end of each competition in front of the Gunbarrel Saloon

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATIONS

Apex Mountain Resort is located in the Okanagan Region of British Columbia, just 30 minutes from the city of Penticton.  If traveling by car from the US, please confirm border crossing locations and hours (not all have 24 hr access) and passport requirements.

RULES

The Organizing Committee will host the event in accordance with the International Freestyle Ski Competition Rules (I.C.R.) of the FIS, the FIS Continental Cup Rules and operated in accordance with the NorAm Standard Operating Procedures.

TEAM CAPTAINS MEETING

All coaches must attend the 1st Team Captains meeting on Thursday, January 22nd, at the Brown Bag Lunch Room.. This meeting will take place at approximately 2:30pm or 30 minutes after training.  Please confirm meeting time with Chief of Competition or Race Secretary.

SCORING AND RESULTS

Start lists will be computer generated . Results will be posted soon.

STATEMENT OF LIABILITY

All athletes, officials and other members of their National Association who attend and participate in the event shall do so at their own risk. Apex Freestyle Club (organizing committee), Apex Mountain Resort, the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association, sponsors and suppliers, their agents, employees and volunteers shall not be held responsible for any losses or injuries incurred or suffered by any athlete, official or other person in conjunction with the organization or staging of the event. All participants are urged not to be negligent in safeguarding their personal belongings at all times.  The aforementioned parties will take no responsibility for missing belongings.

ACCIDENT INSURANCE

Every competitor must have his/her own medical insurance in accordance with FIS ICR Rule 204.2. The Organizing Committee, Sponsors, Suppliers, Apex Mountain Resort, the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association, Canadian Snowsports Association and the FIS decline any responsibility for accidents, damaged equipment and second and third party claims during the event.

ACCIDENT PROTOCOL

In the case of accidents on courses during the event, medical personnel from the Organizing Committee and Ski Patrol personnel will be responsible for any medical decision or evacuation to the local hospital in co-operation with the National Associations’ medical personnel identified on the entry form.
