Timber Tour & Super Youth Challenge Invitation

Dear Freestyle Families and Friends,

On behalf of the Apex Freestyle Ski Club and the Organizing Committee it is our pleasure to invite you to attend the Timber Tour & Super Youth Challenge events at Apex Mountain Resort near Penticton the 7th through 10th of January 2016.

Attached, please find registration information, the event schedule, and information regarding accommodations and lift tickets.  Athletes must REGISTER ONLINE by 4pm on January 4th, 2016 (to avoid a late fee) and then complete their payment via Paypal online or cash or cheque at the Registration Office.   All Athletes will then complete the balance of the registration at the race office when they arrive at the event.

VOLUNTEERS

The success of these events depends on volunteers.  If you feel you can help us out volunteering, please go to the VOLUNTEER sign up sheet.

You don’t have to ski to volunteer but it does help.  A limited number of volunteer lift tickets will be available to those who sign up. 

We expect all coaches to assist with all course prep and maintenance

LIFT TICKETS

Lift tickets will be available for purchase each day of training and competition at the ticket booth with presentation of competitor bib.  Each competitor is responsible for the purchase of his or her own lift ticket for each day of the event.  Apex Mountain Resort offers reduced ticket prices to athletes.  To purchase tickets:

  • Athletes must purchase tickets at resort ticket booth
  • Athletes must show/wear their bib 
  • MC/Visa accepted 
  • Ticket office opens at 8am daily 
  • Registered athletes will receive a 25% discount for lift pass or the respective reciprocal season pass discounts to their home mountain (need to show your home mountain season pass).

Complimentary lift tickets for coaching staff, judges, media, officials and volunteers are available at the Race Office each day.

COMPETITION OFFICE

The competition office will be located in the Brown Bag lunchroom on the lower level of the Gunbarrel building.

ENTRY & REGISTRATION INFORMATION

  • All athletes must REGISTER ONLINE before January 4th, 2016 with the Apex Freestyle Club
  • Note:  Some coaches prefer to do the online entry for their team – please check with your coach before submitting a duplicate entry
  • Athletes must have current CFSA Membership and License
  • Registration fees are to be paid online or at event competition office with cash or cheque 
  • Registration fees can be paid online via PayPal here
  • Bib deposit fees are separate MUST BE PAID WITH CASH - Bring cash with you as the onsite ATM can be unreliable.  

Please note, there is only one cash machine at the resort and it can be unreliable at times.

REGISTRATION COST

  • $155 for 3 events (slopestyle, big air and moguls) for Youth, Juvenile, Junior and Senior Competitors, includes souvenir T- Shirt
  • $135 for 2 events (slopestyle, big air and moguls) for Youth, Juvenile, Junior and Senior Competitors, includes souvenir T- Shirt
  • $95 for 3 events (slopestyle, big air and moguls) for Super Youth only includes souvenir T- Shirt

BIB DEPOSIT

  • $20 per athlete CASH ONLY - Bring cash with you, the ATM can be unreliable.
  • Athletes must wear bib during training and competition.  Athletes not wearing appropriate bib may be disqualified. 
  • Bibs must be returned to race office, in good condition, after the event to receive deposit back.

BASIC EVENT PROGRAM

The event is comprised of moguls, big air and slopestyle for Youth, Juvenile, Junior and Senior Competitors.  A Super Youth event will be judged separately with a separate schedule that includes big air, moguls and slopestyle.

Athletes will access course from the T-bar.  Athletes must ride T-bar to the top (do not eject early). Athletes who unload early risk disqualification from the event.

Event schedule is posted at the competition office and any changes to the schedule will be posted daily.  Spectators and media are encouraged to watch these young athletes.  Medal ceremonies will take place at the end of each competition.

All accommodation is within snowballs throw off the village and runs.  There are two restaurants at the ski hill and a small market and liquor store.  The mountain also houses one of the best ski shops in BC.

RULES

The Canadian Freestyle Ski Association sanctions this competition. The Apex Freestyle Club is organizing this competition.  The competition will be held under Timber Tour rules and guidelines.  References can be found at www.bcfreestyle.com / Timber Tour / Organization, structure and support.

STATEMENT OF LIABILITY

All athletes, officials and other members of their National Association who attend and participate in the event shall do so at their own risk. Apex Freestyle Club (organizing committee), Apex Mountain Resort, the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association, sponsors and suppliers, their agents, employees and volunteers shall not be held responsible for any losses or injuries incurred or suffered by any athlete, official or other person in conjunction with the organization or staging of the event. All participants are urged not to be negligent in safeguarding their personal belongings at all times.  The aforementioned parties will take no responsibility for missing belongings.

REFUND POLICY

If a competition is cancelled, $30CDN shall be refunded to each athlete registered for that
event.  An athlete shall receive a maximum refund of $30CDN per competition event if he/she is
registered in more than one event that is cancelled.  If an event is rescheduled at another
venue, $30CDN will be charged to the participating athletes.

Injury Refund Policy:  A registered athlete who withdraws from an event before the generation of
the start list will receive a refund of 50% of their entry fee.  Athletes that appear on the official
start list for an event will not be given a refund.  No refunds will be given without a written
request received no later than 7 days after the completion of the last event day.
